Cicero's Green Legacy
We were delighted to present the Town of Cicero with a Bicentennial Green Legacy Community Award this past week.
Among their notable achievements, Cicero has educated the public about Storm Water in the past 2-3 years by including projects like artist-designed rain barrels and incorporating 2 new rain gardens in the Red Bridge Park. The town is in the process of converting all their outdoor lights to LED bulbs.
Cicero city officials have increased green development standards for new development, increased public awareness and opportunities for recycling days, planted 20 trees annually, joined the Tree City program as a designated community, and achieved CLEAN Communities status through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
We applaud their creativity in finding ways to merge arts and sustainability with the rain barrels they just unveiled and thank Cicero's Storm Water Board, the Town, Nickel Plate Arts, and all the event sponsors for putting together the presentation. We look forward to watching their Green Legacy grow and find new creative ways to express the beauty of green.
