The City of Anderson sponsors a city-wide volunteer driven re-forestation project.  The volunteers gather the seeds and nuts, sort and process them, and then plant them in areas selected for re-forestation.

The goals for the Fall of 2013 are:

  1. Collect and sort approximately 3,000 to 5,000 hardwood, shade, understory, fruit tree and shrub seeds and nuts.
  2. Plant approximately 1,000 various individual nuts and seeds at the tree nursery.
  3. Stratify / Scarify approximately 2,000 individual nuts and seeds in refrigerated units for Spring 2014 planting.
  4. Directly plant 1,000 to 2,000 seeds and nuts in selected re-forestation sites.
