Operation Megaphone

The goal of OM is to sharply reduce GHG emissions (CO2 and methane) in Indiana through a relentless information- action campaign that changes personal behaviors and produces a public outcry for alternatives to fossil-based energy and fossil-based agriculture.

Strategies to achieve the goal include:

  • Hiring someone with skills and experience to lead the campaign*
  • Articulating the negative consequences of inaction and the positive benefits of a fossil free economy
  • Collaborating with scientists, elected officials, educators, civic leaders, philanthropists, public safety personnel, health professionals, activists, journalists, artists, farmers, retirees, celebrities, parents, students, business and faith leaders to amplify the urgency and hope of a speedy transition to fossil-free communities
  • Educating about opportunities for direct actions such as non-violent sit-ins, rallies, blockades, pickets, boycotts, divestments and civil disobedience if and when necessary to protect our children’s and our planet’s future well being
  • Promoting public and private investment in solar manufacturing jobs
  • Working with Mayors and Town Managers across Indiana to adopt Climate Action Plans
  • Launching a massive “Healthy Hoosiers 50/50 Climate Protection Pledge” campaign around the two largest producers of GHGs and the two greatest threats to safe and sufficient water going forward**
*Job Description

  • Assist with issue framing and campaign messaging
  • Identify, connect and grow a statewide network of campaign communication allies
