Calling all high school Freshman, sophomores, and juniors!
Do you care about the environment and want to take action in your community? This is your chance to make a REAL difference and get paid! Earn $1000 for a 12 week term while gaining valuable experience working alongside city leaders on climate change and sustainability initiatives. The Simon Youth Climate Champion program is supported by the Herbert Simon Family Foundation, whose annual gift ensures the growth and stability of our Resiliency Coordinator program, which incorporates this youth initiative. Simon Youth Climate Champions will be expected to work about 5 hours per week, with flexibility around student's school schedule, testing, vacations, etc.
Collaborate with the Earth Charter Indiana’s Resilience Coordinator to support climate action plans and sustainability efforts in your city.
Identify key strengths and vulnerabilities in your community.
Meet with local officials like the Mayor and City Council, along with business and nonprofit leaders to discuss environmental issues and the local government’s role in addressing the climate crisis.
Partner with youth-led organizations like Youth Environmental Press Team and Confront the Climate Crisis to drive positive change.
Leave your mark! Develop a report or capstone presentation summarizing your achievements and outlining future steps for your city.
